Our Faith

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

Our school focuses on creating a successful academic environment where students can learn in a faith-based atmosphere. Part of our school mandate is to "grow in our Catholic faith and cultivate a Catholic lifestyle". In addition, our vision at Holy Redeemer and in Living Waters Schools is to create a better tomorrow by knowing God, ourselves and the world. At our school, every child is a gift of hope and joy and has a right to quality teaching and learning in a optimum learning environment permeated in faith to achieve their full potential. Within Holy Redeemer, our teachers establish, promote and sustain inclusive learning environments where diversity is embraced and every student, both Catholic and non-Catholic, is welcomed, cared for, respected and safe. In addition, our teachers create effective relationships by building positive and productive relationships with students, parents/guardians, peers and others in the school and local community to support student learning.

Students will see the Catholic faith throughout the school in each of their classes. While at Holy Redeemer, students are required to take Religion classes. Graduating students must have credits in Religion 15, 25 and 35 in order to take part in the year-end Graduation Ceremony and Banquet. A powerful tradition during HRH's Graduation is annual Light of Learning where graduates light a candle for a special person in their lives to spiritually transfer knowledge and faith.

In addition to to experiencing the Catholic Faith in their classes, students will also to take part part in liturgy celebrations at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Graduation.

Religious Education

Living Waters Schools offer a wide variety of educational resources to help students learn about the Catholic Faith. More information on these resources can be found here.

5 Marks of a Catholic School Identity

Living Waters Catholic School Division follows the 5 Marks of a Catholic School and created  the “Living Waters Five Marks of a Catholic School” document to enhance and articulate what living the Five Marks of a Catholic School means in Living Waters. This document is used as the basis of creating a faith-filled environment at HRH. To read this document, click here:

One such focus within the document is Mark 3: Animated by a Faith-Infused Curriculum while sustaining the benchmarks of Mark 4: Sustained by Gospel Witness. Mark 3 states that “an excellent Catholic school has an academic curriculum that integrates a vision of faith within the learner outcomes and teaching strategies”.

GrACE

Living Waters School Division has partnered with Catholic Educators from around the province with the development of a GrACE (Grateful Advocates of Catholic Education) Committee. This Divisional Committee, in conjunction with partners across Alberta, are committed to Catholic Education through the unity of the Holy Spirit, and to be advocates and witnesses for the Divisional School successes and their future. Being Grateful Advocates of Catholic Education can occur in your homes, your neighbourhoods, your schools, and your parishes. GrACE allows us the opportunity to share our narratives of Catholic Education: the values and celebration it adds to our learning and our lives.

Everyday is a celebration of Catholic Education. Let us be grateful for our blessings.
