English Language Learners
Our English Language Learning lead works with students to enhance English language skills, and supports teacher development in the areas of programming, planning and identification of key English Language Learning strategies. Educational Assistants also help support our ELL students at all grade levels. Pull out and push in programming assists our students in developing reading strategies. At times small groups work together in and out of the classroom setting. Those students who struggle receive more individualized supports. ELL resources to engage student learning in various subject areas are available. All ELL students are assessed for Instructional and Independent reading ability levels using the Fountas and Pinnell diagnostic assessment and the Benchmark Assessment. The collection of Benchmark and Fountas & Pinnell data, as well as current research guides teacher programming.
